"WARREN, USA - Virgin Mobile USA and Radio Shack stores will soon offer the LG Optimus V Google Android-based smartphone, for US$149.99. The handset can be categorised as low to mid-end, as it offers a 3.2" touchscreen display with 320x480 pixels in resolution, 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity, a 3.2 megapixel camera with auto-focus but no flash, video recording, built-in Swype, and the usual Google tools, such as YouTube, Gmail, Maps, etc..
It is known as the LG Optimus S when marketed by Sprint, but essentially it is the same device - the lettering is the initial for the network operator that carries it.
This particular Optimus model features a microSD memory card slot for expansion, a 3.5mm audio jack, GPS with a digital compass, and it is powered by a 600MHz processor, rather weak in comparison to other Google Android 2.2 Froyo smartphones.
The environment was taken in account in the packing of the handset, retailing it in a box made out of 100% recycle plastic, at the same time using 50% less of it.
The quoted price of US$149.99 must be bundled with a contract, starting at US$25 per month with 300 minutes of voice, unlimited messaging, IM, email, social networking and web access. There is also a US$40 plan with 1200 minutes of voice access and a US$60 tariff which offers unlimited voice calls."
I THINK it would be better than the Virgin Mobile LG Touch phone but I do not know for sure.
But it would lnot be better than the Samsung Intercept phone.
I went to BestBuy today and I got a LG Rumor Touch cell phone. It was $149.99 so they do not have the special any more.
I am going to post today or tomorrow on YouTube and here my feeling about the cell phone and Virgin Mobile. If you are offended by cuss words then do not watch the video. Smile

I love the phone. I signed up for the $40.00 a month plan. So I will have 1100 minutes a month. If you can live with 300 minutes a month you can get service for $25.00 a month. Do not forget the "kickback" code: eJ7W7Tnn and get an extra 60 minutes.
It is a hell of a phone and for $25.00 a month it is a hell of a deal.
Why then will I be screaming and cussing in the video about it? Hay, I want you to wait and see my having a fit and do not want to spoil the fun of seeing me pissed off.
BestBuy would have put in the battery and activated the phone for me. I came home and did it. If you buy the phone someplace let them put in the battery and activate it for you. Smile
