  I been doing ShowMeBlog a long time.  I been doing it here using TypePad since 2003 but before doing it on TypePad I hosted it on LiveJournal and if you want to read about what I was doing during those years:  Jim Howard

  I been blogging since June of 1982! 
  Some of you have been reading my blogs for years.  From 1982 to 2000 I blogged from the Kansas City (MO) area.  I moved to Orlando (FL) in 2000 and many of you read my blog from there.  Then I moved to the Dallas (TX) area and was there from 2001 to 2004.  Then in 2004 I moved to Miami (FL) and was there until November of 2009. 
  Then I moved to Fort Worth (TX).
  When did you start reading my blog?

  The sun is out and it is 45 degrees in Fort Worth Texas.

  I found a neat search site.  It is called blinkx.  It is for video.  They say they have 35 million hours of video and you can search it all.
  What I did was put in Jim Howard.  It started showing videos for a few seconds one after another.  Most of them were my videos from different video sites.  But there were some other "Jim Howard" with video and it showed them.
  So I put in "hnbbs" as a search and it started showing only my videos one after another.  It pulled in the videos from different videos sites like YouTube, Blip.TV and others.

  It looks like a neat site that might be useful for some of you.

  They also have TV shows and movies you can watch.  I am going to check that out right now.  Just wanted to pass on the information about this site.
    

The ShowMeBlog.Com Domain

  There is going to be a bit on confusion for a day or two with this blog site and the domain of www.showmeblog.com
  I am making a change of the domain name and it will take a day or two for it to show up.  Before the change if you do a search using www.showmeblog.com you are going to get the message that it can not be found.
  It will be back soon. 

We are back baby

  For years ShowMeBlog was my blog.  It is hosted on TypePad.  It was getting  pretty good amount of traffic.  But a great deal of the traffic was looking for a photo or some information and they were here and gone in a flash.  I wanted to try and do something with all of that traffic so I removed the domain name:  showmeblog.com and directed all that traffic to Howard’s Notebook – www.hnbdo.com

  Today I am going to try and do something with my old buddy here.. I got a soft place in my head I mean heart for this site.  So I am setting up a new domain name for it:  www.showmeblog.us and I got a new design for it.
  Now I have to decide just what am I going to be posting here.  Because I have a number of sites.  I am going to be thinking about that and working on that projects.

  My main blog is Howard’s Notebook – www.hnbdo.com
  Then there     is HBN: Fort Worth        -  www.hnbbs.com

   And there      is  Show Me                -  www.hnb1982.com

  I am trying to wrap my brain around just what each one will cover. There will be some over lap of course.  If I can work out the plan in my mind then I will try and let you know what I am trying to do.  I do love to blog and play with software.
  So that is part of it.  I could never be happy with just one blog or just using TypePad or WordPress.  I want to try them all and see what happens.

  So hang in there with me.  Follow along and see what happens. 
  We may all be surprised.

Moving day for ShowMeBlog

  I made some changes here... pretty big changes...In fact.. Not sure how many of you will even read this...

  People that go to www.showmeblog.com now end up at Howard's Notebook.

  I set up a new domain for ShowMeBlog and it is:  www.showmeblog.net

  I am trying to put all of my effort into Howard's Notebook

  But I am not going to kill off this site.
  But Howard's Notebook is where all the action is going to be....

FTC to crack down on bloggers

  Today new rules from the Federal Trade Commission go into effect.  The FTC is going to crack down on bloggers who review or promote products and get freebies or money and do not tell readers.
  I have always told you up front if I am getting any money or anything else.  The new rules will not bring much of a change here.  The new rules will make me think a bit more when I post something. 
  I post here daily about sites that I like or services or things I buy or want to buy and never tell you that I do not get paid for those comments.  I may have to start telling you, some how, that it is an un-paid recommendation.  I know that is not the rule… I need to tell you when I AM getting paid.  But I do not even want anyone to think that I might be breaking the rules.  I think the FTC rules are a good idea.
  I have seen a few excellent blogs that I did read go to hell… Because when sites like PayPerPost and others started up …those blogs that were so excellent would then be just post after post of promotions so they would get paid.
 

CNN linking to Howard’s Notebook

  God, I love it when CNN links to ShowMeBlog or Howard’s Notebook.  Right now they are linking to HNB.  Is my head swollen up? 

  I read a story on CNN about the Taser makers telling officers to not aim at the chest to minimize controversy.  So I posted my comments about the user of the Taser on Howard’s Notebook.  I did not put that post here on SMB because, I think, you are tired of me screaming and beating my head on the computer desk about it.  
  I am about to cave in… I been up since 0600 hours … I can not remember the last time I was up all day…Most of the time I take a couple of naps.
  I was playing my new theme on HNB.  It looks like I got it installed just in time for a bunch of people to see it.

Asking for donations

  Just think of me as PBS or some church…Smile…I want to buy a new professional theme for Howard’s Notebook my WordPress site.  The one I want cost $80.00 so I am looking for donations.  Someone rich that can pay for the entire theme or 100 poor people like me that can donate $1.00 for a new theme for Jim.  You can donate via PayPal:  hnbbs@usa.net
  The two sites that I want new themes for are both WordPress sites and they are Howard’s Notebook and Show Me News. 
  The $80.00 theme that I want I can only run on one site unless I buy a designer package that cost more.  But there is a new theme out by a different group that looks interesting and it is not out yet but I can get it for $40.00 if I advance order it before the 25th.
  So if you can make a donation please do… 
  A couple of rules….  DO NOT (repeat do not) make a donation if you have ever made a donation in the past.  There are a handful of friends/fans that do the donating all the time…It is time for some of the others to donate.  
  Any donation is welcome… About 1000 people will visit ShowMeBlog today. If just 100 of them donated $1.00 via PayPal I could order have the new theme in operation today.
  If you go to Howard’s Notebook you can see the site that I will put the new theme on and you can see a link to their site and see a video about the theme.
  Donate if you can… I know times are hard for many people…Please only donate if you can afford it.  I had a guy donate his food one before…Please do not do that…It makes me feel very guilty and sad.

CNN links to Howard’s Notebook

  I just love it when CNN links to ShowMeBlog and now they linked to Howard’s Notebook.  I am a happy man.  Smile
  When I woke up and I found 14 comments had been left on Howard’s Notebook I knew who to blame.  Smile
  CNN linked to:  Gun-toting soccer mom dead!
  The comments are all very good.  Of course the comments you all leave here are excellent.  But there is such a difference from the type of comments left on sites like YouTube. 

  Speaking of YouTube…They now want people to sign in with their Google ID.  They also say now they get 1 billion views per day. 

  If I have time today I am going to delete some of my YouTube videos.  I have noticed that on YouTube the title is very important if you are going to get views.  I got a number of videos that were, I think, very good and almost no one watched them and I think it came right now to title. 
  I have a hard time coming up with titles for videos or even titles for post to ShowMeBlog.  I need some sort of software the comes up with good titles.  Smile!  I guess that is an area that is best done by a real human person.

  I have a real problem with colors.  I have seen programs that will pick out colors and do the matching thing for you…I never use that type of software but I sure as hell should.
  This green color that you see me use a great deal of the time is because a programmer in Switzerland came up with a design of a logo and masthead for me.  I was a reader of Howard’s Notebook and he was a professional and he did it for me for free.  It just shows why some people are professional or experts.  I wish I had been given some sort of talent by God but he must have been pissed at me for some reason.  Or God has a limited amount that he can give out and I was at the end of the line.

Google Money

  I got my first money from today from Google AdSense.  It took me months to earn enough for them to send me money.  I think I will now get money from them about six times a year.  I am going to work to increase the amount that I earn with them and it would be great to get money each month from them.
  I have never got a penny from Amazon and I have been signed up with them for years.
  The content of my blog comes first and how it looks matters.  I do not get enough from them to let them effect the content or how the blog looks.

  I was going to add about $80.00 to what they sent me and get a nice new monitor but I just could not bring myself to dip into what little money I have so I decided to wait for about a month for a new monitor.

  I did spent $50.00 a new WordPress theme. I have not got it yet.  They will send it to me in a ZIP file and I will have to install it.
  I plan to use it on Howard’s Notebook.

  I have spent a lot of money for templates and themes over the years.  I do not even want to count up how much I have spent for them.  I spent a lot of money for Joomla! themes.
  If you a person out their looking to make some money and you are pretty good with computer look into creating and selling themes.  It is not that hard to do.  It is over my head but then everything is over my head.

  What I should do with the small amount of money that I earn from Google is use that money to pre-pay my hosting sites and pay for domain fees and things like that… My other idea is that I should get some hardware item that I would use all the time and that way it would make me think… That I got it because of my work on the blog and that I should work harder.

14 Domains

  No wonder I am poor.  I own 14 domains.  I was just checking GoDaddy.Com and I see that I own 14 domains.  If you asked me to name them I could not remember them.
  Here are 13 of them;  www.denizensofhell.com, www.denizensofhell.info, www.hnb1982.com, www.hnbbs.com, www.hnbbs.net, www.hnbdo.com, www.hnbwp.com, www.showmeblog.info, www.showmeblog.mobi, www.showmeblog.net, www.showmeblog.us, www.showmecam.tv and www.showmecam.us.
  Why did I not list the 14th domain?  It is a site that I set up for another person.
  Of the domains above many of them are just re-directed to one of my main sites.  But now we know why I am broke. 

  The truth is that domains do not cost all that much these days.
  I should do something with the domains.
