Amazon selling Windows 7

I just got an email that Amazon is now selling Windows 7.  You get 50% off if you order now.  Supply is limited and release date is October 22, 2009.
I have not read all the details yet I just got the email.  It looks like the three below are the full retail price.

Now those prices are if you are  not up-grading.  Here is the prices and details if you are doing an up-grade. One of them is a dis-count of 58%.

I am using Windows 7 RC right now and it is excellent.  My feeling is that this is the first version of Windows that works. I started out using DOS and have used OS/2 and Windows from the start.
I have never used Apple OS.

The Social Media Guide

A guy found me via Twitter and set up to follow me and so I checked to see who it was and I looked at his tweets and everyone of them was something I was interested in and so I set up to follow him on Twitter.
I then checked out his blog:   The Social Media Guide.

“Using Social Media to help you connect to Social Networks: Twitter, Facebook, Google, LinkedIn, MySpace, YouTube using new media.”

He has a pretty neat site.  That is one reason I was messing with Facebook he sells you how do some stuff with Facebook.

The First Blogger by with Scott Rosenberg

Scott Rosenberg, author of the new "SAY EVERYTHING", goes on a quest to track down the primal blogger. In SAY EVERYTHING, Rosenberg chronicles bloggings unplanned rise and improbable triumph, tracing its impact on politics, business, the media, and our personal lives.

Should I tell him who invented blogging?
No, I do not think he cares.  If you have an idea who invented blogging his blog is:    say everything

I made the following video in August of 2007 and posted it on YouTube at that time.  It tells how I invented the blog and my feeling about who is the father of blogging.

World Events and News and Twitter

I do not think anyone should get their news from Twitter.  Most of all I do not think that CNN or any news media should report anything that appears on Twitter.
I use Twitter and you can follow me on Twitter:  n0uwy

But you never know who someone is on Twitter and you never know if anything they say is the truth.  They may say they are reporting from Iran and they may be sitting in their living room in Kansas City watching TV.

Twitter is great to keep up to date on when a blog is updated or if a new program is out or what is on TV and things like that …but you should not get “news” from Twitter.

ShowMeBlog has been mobilized

One reason I got my new cell phone was so I could see what ShowMeBlog looks like on a cell phone or PDA.  If you just go to ShowMeBlog with a smart device this site will display very well.

But you can use Mippin to see ShowMeBlog on devices.

mippin

You can also use:  showmeblog.mobi and it will take you to my Winksite for mobile content.  I have not had time to re-design and make this site better but I will work on it when I get time.
So if you have a mobile device and ShowMeBlog does not display right for you check out one of those two links.

Wolframalpha – knowledge

A couple of weeks ago I was waiting for WolframAlpha to come on line.  Then I forgot all about it.  Dick, in Kansas City, sent me the link tonight.  I was thinking it was going to be some sort of search site.  It is much more than just a search site.  I am not sure what you would call it.
Here is a link to a video they have that shows you how to use it.

I think it will blow your mind.  Russell came into the room while I was watching the video and he said “…that is fake right…”

They do need to update the data base.  I put in “inventor of blog” and it did not pull up my name.  Smile

I did put in “showmeblog.com” and it says the domain name has been online since September 18, 2003.  I guess that is when I first got that domain name.  It says it gets 2900 page views.

Check out the site:  www.wolframalpha.com I think you will be shocked by the data and what you can do with it.

Tempus fugit, mors venit

I been working on Howard's Notebook the last couple of days. I am getting close to doing away with a hosting company that changes me $15.00 a month.  I will save that each month.  I got good service from them for years but I had to move up from $10.00 a month to $15.00 a month because of of the amount of disk space I was using.  I have a hosting company that cost less than that and everything is un-limited.  So I am moving from the $15.00 a month service.

Today I changed jhoward@hnbbs.com and jhoward@hnbbs.net from using Google Mail to the new hosting company.  I am not sure why I used the Google gmail service for both of these domains.  I guess because it was free and it seemed pretty neat that I could use my own domains but still have the use of gmail.

I still have a lot of work that I need to do with Howard's Notebook.  It is a work in progress and will be that way for a long time.

I am still going to have a domain that I need to switch over and I will need to set up that email address today.  If you are wondering how many email addresses I have...Well I wonder the same thing myself.

Windows 7 RC is working great.  It looks like Windows 7 is going to be a winner.  Right now it is looking like the first version of Windows that worked.  I have used all the other versions and this looks like the best so far.
You can run it right now for free.  You can download Windows 7 RC and use it free for one year.  Then it will expire.  You will have to buy it then and you will have to format the install you have and start all over again. Well you could save your data and re-load the data.
It is free and it looks good.

It rained here all day yesterday.  Ken and Russ both got wet.  I was out for a short time but I did not get wet.

If I have time today I am going to re-visit all the sites that let you send streaming video and check and see which ones will let me password protect the video and then I will set it up on Howard's Notebook.  I also want the ability to send video from a cell phone.  I hope to get a new cell phone in a few days.  It is going to cost $350.00 for the cell phone.  I plan to post sometimes to ShowMeBlog from the cell phone and  hope to send streaming video and audio from the cell phone when I get out and go to the zoo and Haulover Beach and other locations.
