Amazon selling Windows 7

I just got an email that Amazon is now selling Windows 7.  You get 50% off if you order now.  Supply is limited and release date is October 22, 2009.
I have not read all the details yet I just got the email.  It looks like the three below are the full retail price.

Now those prices are if you are  not up-grading.  Here is the prices and details if you are doing an up-grade. One of them is a dis-count of 58%.

I am using Windows 7 RC right now and it is excellent.  My feeling is that this is the first version of Windows that works. I started out using DOS and have used OS/2 and Windows from the start.
I have never used Apple OS.

Microsoft Windows Pricing

I hate being poor and broke all the time.  If you are poor you end up paying more for things.

Microsoft is saying that they expect to sell Windows 7 for $119.19 and $199.00 each.  Because I been using Windows 7 RC I can get half off.  I can get Windows 7 Home Premium for $49.99 and Professional for $99.99.
I am running Windows 7 RC and it is excellent and I do plan to buy Windows 7 when they release it. Because I am poor it looks like I will have to pay the $199.00 and that happens to the poor all the time.

CNN reports that you can purchase an upgrade copy of Windows 7 RC for $49.99 and $99.99 each.  That offer is good for both Windows XP and Windows Vista owners.
Now both these offers are good for a limited time and the number of copies is limited but Microsoft is not giving out a date and a number.

If you buy a new computer with Windows Vista on it you will get a free upgrade to Windows 7 and be able to upgrade without doing a clean installation of Windows 7.

People that are poor end up paying more for things and services and they end up paying late fees etc.
There has been some talk of the United States having a sales tax.  I have heard a few people say that even a half of one percent sales tax would bring in tons of money for the federal government and allow us to pay for national health insurance and pay off our debt and do other things.  I wonder if that sort of tax hurts the poor more than others.  Or is it a fair tax?

I guess some people are thinking of a Value Added Tax which is different than a Sales Tax.  I want to see our taxes become easy and simple but I do wonder if it would not be more fair and better for the poor if food and medication was not taxed or if a person cold get a refund for those taxes when they file a tax report.

How did I go from talking about Windows 7 to talking about taxes?

The First Blogger by with Scott Rosenberg

Scott Rosenberg, author of the new "SAY EVERYTHING", goes on a quest to track down the primal blogger. In SAY EVERYTHING, Rosenberg chronicles bloggings unplanned rise and improbable triumph, tracing its impact on politics, business, the media, and our personal lives.

Should I tell him who invented blogging?
No, I do not think he cares.  If you have an idea who invented blogging his blog is:    say everything

I made the following video in August of 2007 and posted it on YouTube at that time.  It tells how I invented the blog and my feeling about who is the father of blogging.

Webby Awards Not This Year

I get no respect.  One more year and no Webby Award for me.  Smile

Comcast Cutting 50 Mbit/s Wideband Prices

“Comcast has reduced the price of its 50-Mbit/s cable Internet service by more than 25 percent.

On Tuesday, Comcast rolled out its 50-Mbit/s downstream and 10-Mbit/s upstream "wideband" service to the Washington D.C. metro area, charging just $99.95 for the service, if a user signs up for both wideband and either a TV or voice package. Customers who wish to sign up for the 22-Mbit "Ultra" package will pay just $62.95 per month, again with a voice or TV package. Pricing for the "Ultra" tier remains unchanged.

As recently as April, when Comcast extended its service to the San Francisco Bay Area, the cable company charged $139.95 per month for 50-Mbit service, if a consumer also signed up for cable TV.

It was not clear whether the lower prices Comcast planned to charge customers in the Washington D.C. area would be rolled out nationwide, and whether they would be extended to those customers with existing service contracts.

Comcast officials were not immediately available to explain the price cut, which will also affect those customers who only sign up for Internet access. That price will drop to $116.95, Reuters reported.

Business customers can also sing up for a "Deluxe" 50-Mbit/10-Mbit service for $189.95 per month, including Microsoft Communications Service with "corporate-class email, calendaring and document sharing, plus firewalls and static IP addresses. Comcast said it doubled the speeds on the Starter tier to 12-Mbit/2-Mbit, and created a new Premium tier of 22-Mbit/5-Mbit services for $99.95 per month.”

Yahoo Tech News

I am on the list for the 50 Mbit/s service but I am not sure when it will hit Miami.  I do not need that much speed but I want it.  I am not sure how I can afford it.  But I want it.  Smile
I guess we all want high speed Internet service.

Hulu May Soon Charge

"According to Jonathan Miller, News Corp's CDO, Hulu may soon begin charging subscription fees for some of their online content. News Corp is the parent company of Fox, which owns a huge portion of Hulu. When Miller of Newscorp was asked if Hulu would begin charging for online content during an Interview with Daily Finance, he said that 'the answer could be yes.' He went on to say that he doesn't 'see why over time that shouldn't happen.'"

Slashdot

At first I was very impressed with Hulu but since the first few times I can not find anything to watch.  I do not see how they could charge unless they decide to add better content.
