My advice to everyone is be very careful at work. Florida just passed a law that allows employees to keep firearms in their locked cars on company property. So you're at work and you piss off a fellow employee. If he goes to his car you better call 911 and lock yourself in the bathroom.
If you're the boss and you fire an employee how are you going to feel when he walks to his car?
TALLAHASSEE --
"In the three-year fight over whether citizens should be allowed to conceal their firearms in locked vehicles at work, state lawmakers have decided Florida business owners will have to bite the bullet.
Siding with the influential gun lobby, the state Senate on Wednesday gave final approval to a compromise measure allowing employees to stash firearms in their parked cars, despite the objections or policies of their employers -- as long as they have concealed-weapons permits. Already passed by the House, the bill now heads to the governor, who said Wednesday he would sign it..."
I think the world has gone mad. I do not understand how anyone can think this is a good idea.
Sure if your a gun nut and you have a concealed-weapons permit you want to carry your gun with you. You're going to want to have it with you all the time.
So you're going to think you should be allowed to carry it to work, to church, to vote, to school, to a bar and you get the idea.
The NRA and the gun lobby won this fight. Now they will start working on allowing you to take it in your workplace.
I did hospital security for 30 years. I have seen a lot of nuts. One hospital I worked at the guy that was the plant operations guy at night was crazy. He needed treatment and medication. He punched me in the chest one time. He broke the window on an employee's car. He put a rag with acid on my car. I saw him driving his little sports MG around the hospital at a high rate of speed and screaming at the top of his lungs.
He asked the hospital for permission to bring a gun into work.
A number of times I had to escort out a fired employee. One time a guy acted like he was leaving and then came back and kicked the supervisor's car. What would he have done if he had a gun?
We had a number of family members that had a patient that died and they went crazy and said they were going to kill the doctor.
People having guns around does not make them safer and it does not make you safer or me safer.
