Rain Storm in Miami FL

Volunteer Firefighter Webcam

  The other day it was an on duty police officer with live video from his car.  Today I was watching and listening to video and audio from a volunteer firefighter's car.  It sounded like he was also a ham radio operator. 
  The video was on BlogTV and his video was "Wildbill Fire in Mobile."  He was in Hilliard, FL.
 

  I just checked the profile of the guy and his name is Bill Allen and he has five kids and he is a ham.

  A lot of interesting stuff taking place with live streaming webcam sites.

Summer Time in FL

  There are two seasons down here.  You have winter and that is warm weather and not much rain.  Then you have summer and that is very hot with lots of rain.  We are getting ready to enter the hot weather with rain each day.
  Then June 1st we enter hurricane season.
  Ken put the doors back on his Jeep because he knows we are going to see a lot of rain.

  They have a fair going on down here.  I should go to the fair.

"MIAMI -- The 57th annual Miami-Dade County Fair is scheduled to open on Thursday, March 27.

Fairgoers can enjoy exhibits, food, rides, shows and games at this year's event, which will take place at Coral Way and 112th Avenue in southwest Miami.

Organizers said they expect more than 700,000 visitors to this year's fair.

The fair lasts until April 13. Gates will be open on weekdays from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on weekends from noon to 10 p.m.

  I hope I can make it.  I will have to find the correct bus to get over to the place.  I am not interested in the rides.  I will be interested in the food and seeing if I can get some good photos.  I will check out the exhibits.

Deep-packet inspection

  I found the following over on Slashdot.Org:
"The Washington Post is reporting that some Internet Service Providers (ISP) have been using deep-packet inspection to spy on the communications of more than 100,000 US customers. Deep packet inspection allows the ISP to read the content of communications including every Web page visited, every e-mail sent and every search entered, in short every click and keystroke that comes down the line. The companies involved assert that customers' privacy is protected because no personally identifying details are released, but they make money from advertisers who use the information to target their online pitches. Deep packet inspection is a significant expansion over tools like cookie in the ability to track a user. Critics liken it to a phone company listening in on conversations."

Peter Piper Picked Peter Peppers

  The above peppers are real.  They are called, of course, peter peppers.  I found the photos of them at Pepper Joe's site.  If I can get Ken to pick up a bag of soil sometime I will order some pepper seeds from this site.
  I have some milkweed seeds coming from a different site.
 
  I got three DVDs today;  "Kill Bill" (2003), "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" (2007) and "Red Road" (2006). 

  My feet and legs are still swollen.  I am going to call and make a doctor's appointment.

Cop Cam - bad idea

  I was over at BlogTV and watching some live videos.  There was a Texas police officer with a webcam in his patrol car sending out live streaming video and audio.
  First off I need to tell  you that I had one of the first webcams on the Internet.  I sent out live streaming video 24 hours a day for years.  I have sent out video from Belton (MO), Orlando (FL), Dallas (TX) and Miami (FL) so I love webcams. 
  I enjoy watching live webcams.
  But live streaming video and audio from a police car is not a good idea.  It would be a good idea sending it back to police HQ but not out to the public.

 

 

 

  This "police officer" appears to be a Texas Constable. 

Butterfly Encounters

  Jimmy made the trip OK to Texas.  I worry when I hear about someone traveling by bus.  A lot of strange people travel by bus.  The location of the bus stations also seem to be in a bad part of town.
  A friend of mine wrote a article for his blog on how to travel by bus.  I printed it here but I need to find it and print it again.
  Jimmy is safe and sound in Texas.  He says he misses his wife already.

  Remember the photos of the monarch caterpillars on the milkweed plants?  Ken had gone and got three more plants and the caterpillars ate everything.  Ken says he is not going to feed them.  I just ordered milkweed seeds from Butterfly Encounters. 
  It will be hard or impossible for me to keep them in milkweed the way they eat.  They just eat and eat and leaving nothing.  One way would be to kill off many of the caterpillars and just leave a few.  I am not a killer.  I am a lover.  I will see what happens.  I have no idea how long it takes to grow a milkweed plant.  Since it is called a weed my guess is not long.

Casio EX-F1 Cameracorder

  I read about the new Casio EX-F1 Cameracorder at OhGizmo.

  At the OhGizmo site you can see sample video clips.  The MSRP price is $1000.00 and that is a little rich for my pocket book.
 
  The camera I want is the Kodak Easyshare Z812IS.  It has a 12x optical zoom.  The price of it is only $211.00 and my plan was to have it this week but I had to send my son money to leave CA.  He should be in TX in about 3 hours.  He will live with his mother, my ex-wife, and he can help her with her eBay sales.
  I am not sure how long he will stay in Texas.  He has a wife in CA.  His wife in CA was crying and begging him not to leave.  Anyone want to make a bet on how long he will stay in Texas.
  I am going to say he will stay in Texas for 3 weeks. 

  Russell will be taking a two week vacation, this month, in Washington DC.  I hope he takes a lot of photos.
  Russell and Ken may visit Kansas City in May for four days.  Ken is having problems getting time off from work.
  You all know what a party animal I am.   With Ken and Russell away for a few days it will be a non-stop party here.  (Smile)

Housing Fix

  CNN Money reports that Senate Democrats and Republicans agree on a compromise bill aimed at averting foreclosures and helping those hurt in housing crisis.  I hope they know what they are doing. 
  They have given 200 billion dollars at a time to banks and major corporations.  I know of at least two times that I read about and maybe it has been more.
  We need to help out the little people.  If they end up out on the street that is not going to help us. 
  Many people object to helping out the little guy that got in over his head with a mortgage.  You have people that own a house and did it the hard way that don't want to see someone else get a hand out.  Then you got people that don't own a house because they could not afford one and they did not go the easy way and they don't want to see anyone get a hand out.
  Believe me I do not know the answer.  I do know that our nation is in major trouble right now.  We got a number of problems hitting all at the same time.

  Right now things are bad and we need to take emergency steps to fix the problems.
  Then after things start to get back to normal we need to work on the long term problems.
