Armored truck guard dies at Dadeland Mall
I worked for about a year as a security officer at Dadeland Mall. I heard on TV today that an armored truck guard was shot and killed at Dadeland Mall today.

An armored truck guard was shot to death at a suburban Miami mall Monday while making a cash pickup at a clothing store, and police were searching for two gunmen.
The suspects fired shots while attempting to rob the guard inside the Express store at the Dadeland Mall around 11 a.m., authorities said. Police have not released any further details, and it was unclear if the men took any money.
Fire
and police officials had surrounded a Dunbar armored car parked in
front of the mall. Witnesses said they heard numerous gunshots and
described shoppers screaming and running through the mall..."

Security officers at the mall are not armed. When I went to work at the mall they had a CCTV system that was fair but during the time I was working for them the CCTV system broke. The mall management never fixed the CCTV system. They ordered the officers not to tell anyone that the cameras did not work. The mall manager during the time that I worked there was a big ass hole. I feel sorry for all the officers that worked at the mall and had to put up with the mall management. I only worked at the mall for one year and the contract security company that I worked for went through three or four security managers. The mall manager got them fired or they decided to transfer to manage other malls and I think the mall manager was the reason.
It has been about four years since I worked at the mall but I asked one of the security officers about a year ago if the CCTV work fixed and he just rolled his eyes and said I can not say anything about the cameras.
It is going to be interesting. I am sure the police are going to ask to see the mall security videos. Of course many of the stores have CCTV in side the store and often they may have a view of the mall. The police may find video from one of the stories that help them.
The guard that was killed had a wife and two kid he was sending through college. He worked two jobs.
"...A group that owns the mall said in a statement that stores were open except in the area near the shooting.
"We are shocked and saddened by this tragic crime," Lydia Gilmore of the Simon Property Group said in the statement. 'Our hearts and prayers go out to the victim.'..."
