Skype - jim_n0uwy

  Well I signed up with Skype and I now have an account with them.  My user name with them is:  jim_n0uwy
   I think I will use them for my telephone service.  They have software for Linux in addition to Windows software.  That might work out for me.  I will give it a test drive and see what happens.

   The Internet has been slow today.  Or maybe I have a virus or something.  I fired up Linux and it did not seem as slow.  But it is hard to measure those things.  You know..I can not be sure if it is the Internet or my computer being slow.

    I went out and waited for the Lunar Eclipse. 
    I attempted to get some photos of it.  But I got the wrong kind of camera for doing that..
    I did get some photos of the sun going down.

Ann Coulter calls John Edwards 'faggot'

"WASHINGTON, March 2 (UPI) -- Best-selling right-wing author Ann Coulter, speaking to a conservative audience in Washington Friday, called former Sen. John Edwards, D-N.C., a "faggot."

Coulter was a featured speaker at the 34th annual Conservative Political Action Conference. Following her prepared remarks, televised on C-Span, Coulter was asked to talk about Edwards.

"It turns out you have to go into rehab if you use the word 'faggot,' so I'm kind of at an impasse -- I can't really talk about Edwards," she said.

"Rehab" may have been a reference to "Grey's Anatomy" star Isaiah Washington's decision to go into rehab during a public relations firestorm after he called one of his co-stars a "faggot."

Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean called on Republican presidential candidates, especially those who attended the conference, to denounce Coulter's remark, Fox News reported.

Coulter has previously suggested that other prominent Democrats are gay -- including former Vice President Al Gore, former President Bill Clinton and Sen. Hillary Clinton, Editor & Publisher reported. All of them, including Edwards, are married, and Bill Clinton's heterosexual tendencies caused a certain amount of well publicized trouble for him as in the White House."

   I became aware of the above story after reading about it on Americablog. They reported:
      "None of the "normal" media (meaning, non-FOX and non-UPI) is touching this story with a ten foot poll. Why is that? It's not like Ann Coulter isn't a big deal. Like it or not, she was on the cover of TIME just, what, a year or two ago? She's a bigot, a loud-mouth, and a jerk, but to write her off as irrelevant is simply a lie."

  I think the "normal" media not reporting on her is the right thing to do.  She is no big deal.  She is not smart.  She lies.  She just says things in order to get attention and sell her books. 
  Of course she is still going to get on right wing radio and TV.  The right wing love her. 

Update: CNN now is reporting on Ann Coulter using the F word.

Put a shirt on Jim

  I have two tickets for the Florida Lotto tomorrow.  The jackpot is $21 million dollars. 

  I downloaded another template.  I like the looks of it.  I have it installed on Howard's Notebook.  It is also onShowMeCam.  Both of those sites now need major work.  When I put a new template on a site..tons of stuff needs to be moved and adjustments need to be made.  So I will be working on those sites for the next few days.

  Looks like I need a t-shirt.  Send me a new t-shirt and I will ware the shirt on camera.  I will also take a photo and post it here and maybe on some other of my sites.  If the shirt is for a school, church or something like that ...give me their url and I will put a link to their site. 
  Make sure it is a new shirt.  An extra-large would be best but if you don't have an extra-large make it a large.

The 31 days of March

  Here it is a new month.  It is March and I will be 66 years old on the 26th of this month.  LaDawna has a birthday this month.  (LaDawna is my oldest child.)  I was 26 when I got married, my wife was 18, you can do the math.
  My father had seven brothers and three sisters.  He was the first to die.  Only one of his sisters is left and she will be 90 years old this month.  She is in good health and her husband is still alive and in good health. 
  My son in law's father passed away yesterday.  He was in his late eighties.
 
  My number one goal and mission today is get the rent paid.  It is going to hurt, this time, because I have to pay the $450.00 and the part of the rent I did not pay last month $350.00 and a late fee of $55.00 and I will be pretty much broke.

  I want to get out this month and do something.  It will be harder when I am broke but I do have a free bus and rail pass.  

  I need to see a heart doctor this month.  My heart today feels very odd.  I can't put into words how it feels.  It just feels very odd.   

  I am going to try and make it out to the Miami Zoo today. I may not make it today.  It cost $11.50 to get into the zoo and they are open from 0930 to 1730 hours.  I can get on the bus near here and it will take me right to the door.
  I would also like this month to make it out to Haulover Beach.  People come from all over the world for the Haulover Beach.  It is free.  For me to get to that beach I will have to ride the MetroRail down town.  Then get on a bus for a long bus ride to the beach.  

CompUSA Closing Over 50% of their Stores

"The retail electronics space is about to get a lot less competitive.  CompUSA announced yesterday that it is set to close more than half of its US retail locations within the next 3 months, dropping expensive and low-performing locations to focus in on their top performing stores.  After closing 126 locations, CompUSA will receive a $440 million cash infusion from an unknown source.  This is all part of a major cost-cutting and restructuring effort for the electronics retailer.

This is the latest entry in the company's recent shrinking history, with rumors floating about closing locations as late as last September, and the announcement on Monday that it would be closing two stores in California, one in Texas and on in Illinois. 

This comes on the heels of Circuit City announcing earlier this month that 70 of its stores were on the chopping block.

So far, it seems like Best Buy is the only one weathering the current retail storm."

New Storm Worm Spreading

"A Storm worm variant using both e-mail and Web sites to infect Windows-based PCs is injecting itself into the responses people are leaving on blogs.

Dmitri Alperovitch, principal research scientist at Secure Computing, told eWEEK that the worm is injecting itself into the operating system as a rootkit and is capable of intercepting Web traffic.

When a user with an infected system visits a bulletin board or posts to a blog, the worm inserts a malware into his or her comments. The line asks readers to look at a fun video and contains a link leading to a Web site where the malware is waiting to reinfect more users.

The worm is taking over PCs, Secure Computing reports, giving the criminal control for multiple purposes: sending spam, launching DDoS attacks and running keyloggers.

Alperovitch said that Googling for the different domains from which the worm is working results in several hundred postings that already contain links to the malware. "Probably the population [of infected machines] is more extensive because not everybody posts," he said. Secure Computing is tracking six domains, all posted on the Estonian register, which has been associated with a large volume of malware in the past.

Also notable in this worm is that it's using server polymorphism—i.e., it contains self-modifying code that changes automatically every time it is downloaded. This worm form has been around "for ages," Alperovitch said, such as in the Bagle worm. Morphing worms are designed to avoid antivirus signature detection, and so far, Alperovitch said, it's working, as few major antivirus vendors have detected it.

To avoid infection, the advice is to refrain from clicking on the "fun video" link.

It's easy to find out if you're infected, Alperovitch said, simply by going to a Web board and posting a message. "If it's adding something to your post you didn't add, you know it's infected," he said."   From eWeek Security Watch
