If you go to the CompUSA site you can find "CompUSA Announces Realignment Strategy" on their site. But that is when they closed the 126 stories back months ago. It is not about the last of their 103 stores that they will start closing very soon. I guess after Xmas they will all be closed. But reading the above site will give you some sort of idea about what to expect. If you do a search on the Internet your going to find a lot of links that are for their old announcement about closing the 126 stores. Yahoo Finance has the Friday December 7, 2007 news. I wonder if BestBuy is on the stock market and if they are I wonder how much their stock went up? Not that I recommend buying any stocks right now. I love the Internet. I just did a search and Best Buy is on the NYSE and they are: BBY Looks to me like their stock is down.
I talked to Darlene, my ex-wife, for about an hour and forty minutes today. I need to get a life. I do have a ticket tonight for the Florida Lottery and the Missouri Lottery. In fact I got two draws in the MO Lottery (Thanks Dick). The FL Lottery is for $18 million dollars. If I win I can pay someone to talk to my ex-wife each day. (Smile)
I was trying to watch my salt in take today. My feet are not swollen as bad. This is the best they have been in weeks. I just have to watch the amount of salt I eat. I looked at the food I have on the shelf here and the salt content is pretty high. I am going to have to learn to shop better at the store.
I posted about CompUSA going out of business last night. I had a feeling it was going to happen. Remember they closed a bunch of stories a while back and there were all sorts of things going on with them... When Russell got home last night from work I asked him how many skids they were getting in each day now. It was low and this is the Xmas time. I commented too him that it was "not a good sign" and that "something is going on" etc. Right after that Ken found on CNN that CompUSA was going out of business and closing all their stores. Russell has a supervisor/manager job with CompUSA. But Russell had put an application for a job that paid more and paid for college. He has not heard from them yet and I don't think he will. They are only hiring two people. Russell will do OK. I worked at CompUSA for a bit over a year and there were some real nice people that worked at the store. One guy has worked for CompUSA from the very start and in fact worked for the company they took over. Now he is going to have to start all over again with a new company. Also a lot of young guys had been working their ass off at CompUSA and thinking they might get moved up in management. I also wonder if any customers will be hurt. They have an insurance program on items you buy (TAPS) but that is with a different company. It is sort of like an insurance company. Also the word going around is that TigerDirect is going to take over that part of the company. My Gateway FPD2275W LCD (1680x1050) monitor I got from CompUSA and I think the TAPS (insurance) on it was for three years. I have not had any problems with the monitor but I wonder what happens if I do next year.
CompUSA will close all its stores after the holidays. I worked for them a little over a year. Russell works for them right now. He has been a supervisor and manager of the receiving department and dock. This maybe a good thing for Russell. I think it is time he moved on to a different job. I am sure he is going to be worrying. Of course there was talk at work about this happening ...But he found out just now when Ken found the story on CNN Money site.
I just watched the McLaughlin Group on PBS. I have been watching it for a long time. I like it. It is a political panel discussion. John McLaughlin, the moderator, is a bit of a prick. But they get some good heated discussions going and it is interesting to see them take sides. Sometimes they yell so much you can't hear what they are saying..but I like the show. Tonight one of the discussions was about Mitt Romney and the speech he made about his faith. The state of Missouri was mentioned. It appears that Mitt Romney believes that Missouri is where the Garden of Eden is located. Pat Buchanan said he worked in Missouri for years and that he believes the Garden of Eden is located in Missouri. (Smile) One of the people on the McLaughlin panel discussion tore into Mitt Romney about his religion. I do not think I have seen such a vicious attack on any religion before on TV like the attacks that the guy made over and over again. Mitt Romeny is a Mormon. Mitt Romeny has many long years of public service behind him and during that time we have not seen any racism nor any other problems because of his religion. I do not think that his religion should enter into the election.
I could see him being asked a few questions about race and a few things like that... I know a little bit about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and I do not see why it should be a problem for him. Religion should not have any place in picking a President. That has been one of my problems with the Republicans.
I got a voting panel set up here on ShowMeBlog and we have not had many of you vote but it is interesting...here I am very liberal and I yell and scream and cuss the Republicans and they are getting more votes on the panel that the Democrats. Smile God does that mean that my base of readers are Republican? Smile
The mall shooting was so sad. So many good people shot down for no reason. A teenage boy needed help and did not get it and he decided to kill others and kill himself. CNN printed part of his suicide and they removed the word "shit" from the note. I think when your reporting news or on what someone says like this you should not edit out "bad" words. If you can't print or broadcast the word then don't run any of the information. I am sure everyone can put the word in the blank but I still think it is stupid not to present the suicide note as it was written. He felt he was "shit" and the other people were "shit" also. We need to know why someone does something like that and what they are thinking. Then maybe we can prevent things like that happening again. I saw here on local TV, Miami FL, the news people said that the Miami-Dade police have a plan that has been worked out with malls on how to handle an event like that..Well I worked mall security for a year here in Miami and I never saw anything about it. The Omaha Police Chief said that security personnel were watching the gunman before he started shooting but did not have the opportunity to prevent the shooting. He did not say if it was mall security or loss prevention security in the store. My guess it was loss prevention in the store. They would not be in uniform and would not be armed. My guess, again, would be that maybe one person was watching him and someone in the control center had cameras aimed at him. But there would not have been time to do anything. At a mall anytime but most of all this time of year there are a lot of people in the mall. But the one chance they might have had was when he went to his car to get out the AK-47. It would be sort of hard to hide it as he got it out of the car and with good CCTV and some real good luck they might have picked it up on the camera. Thank God the kid did not keep shooting. He fired off a lot of rounds, not sure if it was all his ammo or not, and then he shot himself. One of these days someone is going to go into a mall with lots of ammo and just keep shooting. I would also be interested in the AK-47 clip. When Clinton was President of the United States a law was passed that did not allow the sale of clips that held over 10 rounds. When President Bush was president he allowed the law to expire and so a person could buy a clip that would hold 30 rounds or so. Let me correct that information...The law that was passed during President Clinton time did not allow new magazines that held more than 10 rounds manufactured or imported into the United States (except for law enforcement officers). I had a clip for my S&W 40 cal handgun that held 11 rounds and I could top it off and put one into the handgun and pull the clip and replace that one round and that gave me 12 rounds ready to shoot. I would be interested in knowing if the clip the kid got, and I think it sounds like it held 30 rounds, was picked up after Bush let the ban expire. If that is the case..then a little of the blame falls on President Bush and the Republican congress.
Today is December 7, 2007. The attack on Pearl Harbor by the Empire of Japan took place on December 7, 1941. That was the start of World War II for the United States. The UK, Canada and large parts of the rest of the world had been fighting WW II for years. We did not enter the war until we were attacked. We had a real President of the United States (Franklin D. Roosevelt) at the time. So we went into WW II, a just war, with honor and all of the American people behind the fight. The entire nation went to war and the American people were in the fight until Japan and Germany gave up. I do not remember WW II. I was born in March of 1941.
I took my BP when I woke up today (0600) and it was 135/56 and that is good. Today I just have to watch what I eat. Salt is the thing I want to cut out the most.
Jimmy and his wife will be moving from CA to TX soon. (The plan to move on the 20th). I think it is going to be great for Jimmy and for Darlene. Dar needs help. I found out that Jimmy got fired Big Lots store about two weeks ago. A customer knocked a box down that almost hit Jimmy. Jimmy felt the customer did it to try and hit him with the box and he yelled at the customer and they fired him. He can never work at a Big Lots store again. Smile It is not like Jimmy to yell at anyone. So I suspect the customer may have been messing with him. Of course the customer won. You just can't yell or cuss out customers. When Jimmy gets moved to Texas I hope he can find some way to get his medication free or at cost. His medication is $275.00 a month.
I am out of money until December 26th. I sure will not be getting gifts for anyone. I got lots of food on hand to last me for awhile. I been eating good since we moved to this new place. I have a bunch of those Maruchan Instant Lunch cups. They cost about 39 cents each. I see now the problem with them is that the sodium (salt) content is 1180 mg. That is 49% of the amount I should have each day. It was too good to be true. A cheap food I could eat each day. I guess I will have to save them until I run out of food and then eat one a day and nothing else. Even then I think that is too much salt for my system. I need to find a food, like the lunch cups, that is cheap and has very little salt.
I was looking up something on the Internet last night and I found the pay for FBI agents. They are not paid very well. We need to pay FBI agents much better. I do not know where in the hell we are going to come up with all of the money that we need to fix things in the United States. Oh I guess I should tell you their pay..It looks like it is about 48K a year. For the education they have and the work they do it is not very good money.
I hope my memory is not going. For the last few days I was trying to remember the name of a old friend of mine. He did an early BBS back in Kansas City (MO). I woke up today and his name came to me. I did a search for "Dave Hallas + Kansas City" and I found the following:
Do not call that phone number. The above is from a list of area code 816 bulletin boards in the early 1980s. Lot of information there. I also ran Tom Wheeler's BBS 64 software on a Commodore 64 and later he re-wrote it for the IBM and I ran it on a Tandy 1000A. There is also on that list "The South Pole" BBS running on a C64 computer and the SysOp was LaDawna Howard. I did not remember her running a BBS. The date of her BBS was from 1984 to 1985. Howard's Notebook is on the list two times. One listing is from 1987 to 1995 and we as running QuickBBS software. The other listing is from 1989 to 1996 with Wildcat software. I look at the list of bulletin board systems in the Kansas City area and it brings back a great deal to remember. Dave Hallas is listed with FT/FFRF running from 1987 to 1988. His BBS was called "Free Thought" and he was a big help to me back when I was running Howard's Notebook. He was a very nice guy. The dates and on that list are not fully correct. My Howard's Notebook ran from 1982 to 1995. In 1995 someone invented the world wide web and I moved Howard's Notebook to the WWW. The list maker attempted to get good dates by pulling information from telephone lists. Here is more of the list: 816 Bulletin Boards The entire list and other area codes is from:
The TextFiles.Com Historical BBS List If you ran a bulletin board system or called them you can go back and look up your area code and re-live the good old days. All this just because I did a search for Dave Hallas using Google.
I am not sure why but my blood pressure is out of control. Keep in mind I just started a new blood pressure medication. I just started taking Lisinopril (10 MG). 12/01/2007 130/66 55 @0100 12/03/2007 144/66 61 @2200 12/06/2007 163/70 57 @0100 12/06/2007 152/69 55 @0110
Out of bed at 180/71 56 @0400 12/06/2007 137/71 56 @0415 12/06/2007 131/67 53 @0430 12/06/2007 139/70 51 @0900 12/06/2007 165/69 61 @1800 I wonder if there is something to do with the other medications I am taking. I guess I will have to call the doctor's office tomorrow. Before he even put me on the additional BP medication he said my BP should not be above 140 and he wanted to hear if it went above 140. I take Avodart, Coreg CR, Doxazosin Mesylate and of course the Lisinopril. It seems to have more to do with what I eat. My feet and leg are swollen all the time. My left foot was already swollen up big and I fixed myself a hamburger and some mashed potatos and you could almost see my left foot swelling up. I think it is salt. I love salt but I don't think my system can stand any salt.
Today our great leader will announce his plan to fix the looming wave of foreclosures. We know it will be a great plan since everything our great leader has done has been a great success. So we do not need to worry. President Bush is going to fix everything. His plan will freeze those low interest rates that banks used to sucker in buyers. So those rates of 7 or 8 percent will not go up to 11 percent. Of course if you have an emergency in your family or if a recession hits or something happens and you miss a payment the rate will jump to the higher interest rate. That is a wonderful way to live...Your paying $1500.00 a month for your home each month...something happens...you can't make the payment for that month...then your monthly payments jumps to $2500.00 a month or $3000.00 oh yes that is going to make you feel secure in your new home. So the deal is that banks and mortgage lenders keep getting money each month. The home owners that should not have got a loan for a home keep getting to pay 7 or 8 percent each month. These home owners, I am sure, were told you can afford this house. They were told, I am sure, the worth of this house will increase 20% before you have to pay higher interest rates and no telling what they were lead to believe...Now they get to keep paying the 7 or 8 percent and the money lenders get their gold. OK money and finance is not my thing. But this deal leaves me cold. It will bail out money lenders. It will save their ass so they are not going to learn anything. There is no reason for them not to try out dirty tricks on the American people. They will look around for some other ways...Hell they are already doing it..Giving a kid as soon as he goes to college a credit card. I am sure they are doing it with school loans. I have no idea what dirty little scams they are pulling to fuck over the American public. I just know they will do it. I think there should have been something else in this deal. How about banks and other places that have ATM machines are one not allowed to increase the cost of using an ATM and two a percent of that ATM money goes into a special fund. So what would we have then ... let me say that each time someone used an ATM that one dollar went into a Home Owners Super Fund. Then that super fund could be used to do some good. You would have to decide who would decide how best to use all of that money and it would be a LOT of money. It should be something that would help the American people and keep us out of recession. Maybe my ATM fee is not a good idea for some reason..but the Bush Save The Banks plan is not enough. I think we need something to help curb the greed and vice of the bankers.
This is just 30 seconds of video from when Ken and I went to the Hollywood FL beach the other day. The birds you hear in the back ground are will Florida wild parrots up in the trees.
I was feeling pretty good today. I just took my BP however and it was 163/70. Keep in mind that my doctor never wants to see my BP above 140. Plus I am on three BP medication. I just started a new one a few days ago. I took it again and it was 152/69. For normal BP the top number should be between 90 and 140. Now the bottom number for normal is 60 to 90 so I am in the normal range. I should monitor my BP more often. I do not own a watch now. I have not owned one for years. I just check my cell phone for the time. But I wonder how well the heart rate monitor watches work now days. Now I am not talking about a watch with something you have to have around your chest. I am not going to have an elastic strap around my chest. Hell that would make my BP high. I looked on Amazon and it looks like for all of them you need a transmitter around your chest.
I am going to bed.. I do think it would be interesting to my BP being taken all the time..so I could see what makes it go up and down.
Update: I woke up at 0400 and went to the bathroom and then took my BP. It was 180/71 with heart rate of 56. I have never had a blood pressure reading of 180 before. I am going back to bed.
