"You don't have to use a mobile device for Internet often -but I have
been lately - my Sprint PCS phone  has a web brower but unless a site
has a WAP feed such as you do most are hard to use - too many
graphics - too much large text - too many links.
I found this service rocketshotz.com that gives you access to a lot
of wap enabled sites and let you customize the list you want from any
PC which is easier than doing it on the phone itself.  Seems to be
almost ad free and no subscription charge but it's pretty potent. The
only thing I don't like - so far  - I can't add sites that aren't on
their list - but it's easy to bookmark them separately as I've done.
If also does have a wap ver of the Drudge Report - something I was
looking for today and didn't find but some guy provides a conversion
in real time so there is such a ver even though Drudge doesn't provide it.
Will give me more to play with on the road - amazing how even a tiny
screen becomes a gateway to news and weather. Hope it'll let me call
up live radar - the trick is the text input - always the hard part of
working with a cell phone for a computer.
Anyway- preliminary thumbs up for rocketshotz.com or via cell
phone  rktsz.com . It seems that once you've logged in it knows the
phone and I dont' think I'll have to log in each time. Pretty neat service.
Showmeblog is still the Home Page for my cell phone browser but the
pressure is on - you could be replaced. But not for now.
And it's only good for someone with unlimited data transmission
-which i think i have with the Power Vision pack on my Sprint phone.
If you were paying per kb it's run your bill up very quickly.
Now I'll just have to stay off it while driving."

Dorian Blues (2004)

  I just watched "Dorian Blues" (2004) on DVD.  It was funny.  I was expecting it to be more funny but there was more to the movie.  It has some depth and some lessons to learn from watching the movie.
  This is not going to be a move for most people.  No killing and no nude shower scenes.

 Russell went into work today for a 2 hour meeting and was gone for over 8 hours.  I was feeling sorry for him.  But when he came home I found out that after the 2 hour meeting, on his way home, he met a college girl that he knows and the two of them and another girl went to UM and took in a few movies.  Wow...two college girls.  I guess I can stop worrying about Russell.  Smile

  I found an interesting site.  It is Miami Condo Fiasco.  People been building condos down here like crazy in Miami.  I said from the start how can they find people to rent all these high priced condos. 
  They are building them all over the place.  Well I guess things are bad for many of these people now.  I have problems doing a balance on my checking account so it is all over my head...but it is a little more easy to understand when you hear about one man and one condo.
  This site is about a guy that put $70K down on a condo that is being built.  It will be done in January 2008.  He will then have $284,400.00 to pay back on a one bedroom and one bath room 859 sq foot condo.  (This is Miami.  Smile)

  The condo by the way is in prime high priced area of Miami. 

  Just keep in mind that this guy is just one guy that has found himself in a mess like this...It looks like he just is in for one unit.  There are people out there that put lots of money into buying condos like this and the market must have too many of them and fewer people now with the money to rent them.

Gen. Pervez Musharraf my kind of man

  Lawyers have been the protesters in Pakistan.  Thousands of lawyers have demonstrated.  Gen Musharraf had his troops crackdown and baton-wielding police officers beat the lawyers.
  I am starting to like Gen. Musharraf.  Anyone beats lawyers and has them bleeding and has them passed out from clouds of gas is my sort of man.
  What do you have when you have police officers beating lawyers?  You got a good start.

  Pakistan is a place that scares me.  I wish we had a government in United States that I could trust.  There is no telling what President Bush might say or do that could cause everything to go down the tubes in Pakistan.
  
  I have a couple of friends that are Pakistani.  They are wonderful people.  I got a few other people that are Pakistani that I know but I would not say were friends.  Just some people that I know.
  Well they do not understand why I worry and am so scared about Pakistan. 
They tell me that the people do not want militants in control of Pakistan and that when votes or polls are taken the militants do not get a large number of votes.  They tell me that the people of Pakistan want to be a nation of laws and take their place fully in world community.
  But it seems to me that their religion is very powerful and I could see something happening that would inflame all of the people and put the nation full into the hands of militants.  Keep in mind Pakistan has nuclear weapons. 
  So it is scary too me. 
  I am a Catholic.  If I were in Europe in the 1400s or 1500 in a Catholic nation I would feel the same way about that nation. 
  I do not know much about Islamic religion but I get the feeling it is sort of locked into the past.  The rest of the world has learned a great deal and learned.  There are things that we feel are natural rights.  Freedom is something that is very important to Americans and much of the rest of the world can not understand our feels for freedom and we can not understand how they see it.
  We need to learn to live with each other and understand each other and love each other.
  Right now it is very hard.  When people fear each other and hate each other and do not know each other.. something bad is going to happen.

Capital Punishment

  If you been reading Howard's Notebook and ShowMeBlog you know that I do not believe in capital punishment.  From the very start of HNB (1982) I been objecting to the death penalty.
  Right now a lot of people are upset that the killer of an 11 year old boy got a stay of execution.  I expect he will be executed one day soon however but for right now he is not going to die.
  CNN story tells you that the mom and dad of the 11 year old boy are mad because of the delay.  They were going out the door to head to the execution when they got the word of the delay and now they have to find something else to do and there is nothing on TV to watch.
  I do not believe in the death penalty because it is not given out in a fair manner.  I also object because you can not try and correct it when you make an error and we do know that it has been used many times on people that did not do the crime. 
  If you do have the death penalty I do not think that family, friends and fans should get to watch the execution.  It just seems to me like it is a big party or something..you got family getting all dressed up to go and see someone get killed and to appear on TV telling people what they think about it all.

  There is a another story that got me thinking about this and that is the story about the Missouri doctor that was banned from taking part in them in MO but has been hired by the federal government to be on their execution team.
  OK here is sort of the way the story goes..the MO doctor in MO was the key guy setting up and designing executions in MO.  I guess this doctor was pretty dumb and fucked up.  He got banned from having anything to do with executions in MO but the feds hired him.  I guess it does not matter..I mean who is going to be around to object?
  
  People that love the death penalty have many reasons for loving it.  They say it deters crime.  I think we all know that is not true.  In fact I think we all know that people will often kill someone so that there is no one to ID them. 
  People that love the death penalty say it prevents a killer from getting out of jail and killing again.  Well not just killers but other bad people should never get out of jail.  We should not be reading that someone with a long list of crimes or that did such and such got out of jail and did it again..because they should not be getting out of jail.  You do the crime and you do the time.
  Now, as I have said before, if they can't kill a killer in jail or if they can't keep them from killing a guard in jail then they need to use capital punishment.  Someone should be kill someone and be sent to prison and be allowed to kill someone again.  It just should not happen.
 
  I do not think that the United States of America should be using capital punishment.  

Changes to ShowMeBlog and the others

  Yes I made some changes to ShowMeBlog and my other sites.  I started out with one idea and of course as often happens I ended up doing something different.
  I am moving Howard's Notebook to be hosted here on TypePad.  Yes I have done that before a few times.  I am doing it again.  Smile
  When I get some information off of the old HNB site then when you do www.hnbdo.com you will be sent to www.showmeblog.com/hnb
  My plan, if I can stick to it, will be to have the Colin Farrell, penis size and all that other stuff on HNB.  I am trying to make it more easy to find.  Right now we got a couple of hundred people each day that come to ShowMeBlog looking for that information and I plan to have it on HNB with link and lists that make it more easy for them to find.  Well that is the plan.
  I am working on another site at the same time:  Denizens of the Blog 
  I had an idea for what it was going to be but it did not work out.   So now we will just have to wait and see what takes place.

Stay Home This Holiday Season

  I know this is the start of the holiday season.  I know it is a time for family.  I know we all want to be with our family for Thanksgiving and for Christmas.
  This year do not fly.  If you can not drive then stay home and hook up your webcams and use the Internet please.

  President Bush has made a personal intervention into air travel for holiday season this year. 
  Since Bush became President of the United States he has not done one thing correct.  Everything that he has had anything to do he has made into a mess.  President Bush can not handle even the simple matters.  Now he has injected himself into holiday air travel.  This can only turn out bad for all.
  For years President Bush has done everything he could to break the air traffic controllers union.  He has refused to hire the number of controllers needed.  He got their pay cut.  Air traffic control is a mess because of President Bush.
  President Bush appointed as head of the FAA Marion C. Blakey as FAA administrator in 2002.  I have seen the woman on TV.  She is a moron.  I think she was appointed to try and break the air traffic controllers union.

  For years Marion C. Blakey has not been taking the actions needed to improve the FAA and make air travel safer and to improve air travel.
 
  Now with more air traffic...more near misses in the air and on the ground we start the busy season for air travel and we have Bush as President of the United States.
  Keep in mind that we have more traffic and President Bush and Marion Blakey have been doing everything they could to play politics with the FAA and the air traffic controllers. 
 
  President Bush as called on to pass an FAA reauthorization bill that will finance a modernizing of air traffic control by replacing radars with GPS satellites.  The House passed a reauthorization but "Bush objects to some provision" of the bill.
  What do you bet that he objects to paying employees the sort of money they should be paid and what do you bet he objects to parts of the bill that have to do with politics.  I bed he does not object to paying out lots of money to be corporations to supply hardware but I bet he objects to paying workers to operate the hardware.

  I hope and pray the sky is safe this year.
  But again...Keep in mind that since Bush became President everything that he has touched has been a total mess.  Why should this be different?
  I am just a retired night watchman.  There is no reason you should listen to me.  But do not fly if you don't have to this season.  If you must fly study up how how is the most safe time and way to travel.  I think my number one concern is problems on the ground.  There have been a number of near misses on the ground recently.

Places to live

  I can not afford to buy a house.  Hell I can't afford to rent a house.  If Ken and I were not sharing the cost here I am not sure where I would be living.
  Ken is planning to buy a house someplace in a year.  We still plan to live here but it would be a weekend place or a vacation place and investment for him.

  I found this photo on the Internet.  I have no idea of the location.  I got a feeling it is not even in the United States but God it is neat.


  Found the photo at Giverny News but they did not give any details.  Or if they did I think the site is in French.  OK OK the place does look like it is going to fall down any day.

Gator Food

  Justo Pardon, a Cuban, was a "habitual felony offender" with more than a dozen arrests since 1989.  That all came to an end when he went to the Miccosukee casino parking lot not to gamble but to steal a car.  A police officer saw him and Heriberto Rubio and they ran from police.  Justo Pardon jumped into a lake to get away from the police.  He became gator food.  A gator killed him.
  Maybe Justo Padron could not read the sign that said danger alligator.

  The TV is warning people to get ready for cold weather.  It will be in the 80s during the day time but may get down to 60s late at night.  Warning Warning.. cold weather..Warning Warning..cold weather...  smile

Comcast past due bill

 

I been waiting for it.  I got a past due bill from Comcast.  Smile
  I called them and the service was good.  I did have to talk to two people and each one said it shows the "line is  bad" we can have someone come out and fix it for you.  I had to explain in detail they have no box or line here.  I told them their computer would show that they offer service here at these addresses but they do not because they have no boxes or lines.  So at last I got it across to them and they are sending a box out to me so I can return the cable modem and the woman said I could tear up the bill.  (I think I will hold on to it until I am sure everything is taken care of..in case I have to call and give them an account number or something).

  Russell got the first full electric bill for this place today.  The bill for the month was $103.00 and that is less than we paid at the old place.  Keep in mind I just posted about Ken having the air going full blast all the time.  Russell has a good deal as all he pays to live here is that $103.00 a month now.
 
  Darlene is having real money problems.  She is not selling much on eBay.  Jimmy and his wife say they are going to move from CA and move in with her in about 3 months.  If they do move to TX with her that will help Darlene a great deal. 
 
  In three years Darlene will be 62 years of age.  We were married for 12 years and if your married for over 10 years you can draw SS money.  So in three years she can be getting SS each month.  It will not, of course, be the same amount that I get but any amount that she gets will help.  Anyone know how much a ex-wife gets?  I get $1000.00 a month in SS.  If she could get $500.00 a month that will help her a great deal.  She just signed up for food stamps and is getting $150.00 a month in food stamps.
  A lot of people are going to be upset that anyone is getting an aid from the government so just let me say that Darlene in additional to bad mental problems she has major medical problems.  It is almost impossible for her to walk and get around.  She has major breathing problems etc. 
  She was doing OK and supporting herself with eBay and Amazon sales for years.  She got no aid from the government but recently sales have been way down and eBay, PayPal and the post office have increased the amount they charge.
