BlogTV beta

I just found a neat site called BlogTV (beta).  I even read over the long long agreement.  I never read those agreements but I did this time for some reason.  Everything looked good.  I signed up and started to broadcast live streaming video. 
In less than 5 minutes I got kicked off the site.  They posted a message to contact them.  I am waiting to find out what I did that was so bad that I would get kicked off the system.

I will let you know what I find out.  It is just sort of funny that for the first time in my life I read an agreement and then I get kicked off in less than 5 minutes.

Lap top update

I still find it hard to use the pad on my new lap top.  I guess I will get the hang of it one of these days.
I hooked up my web cam to the lap top and took it out side to see how far our wi-fi connection would work.  But the camera is not made for a lap top.  It has a long cord and it was a pain.  Plus the lap top has Windows Vista on it and the camera would work but I can not access the settings.  So I could not adjust for it being dark out side.  So the test failed.  I need a lap top camera and one that works with Windows Vista.

I did lay on the bed and watch a video on the lap top last night.  That was OK except in order to hear it I had to use a head set.  The speakers are not loud enough for me.

But the lap top did work out well in checking on my video.  I was sending out some video last night and today and I could check and make sure it was going out OK.

Russ and I do not have any hurricane supplies.  I was in chat with a friend, on line friend I have not met him yet in person, and he and his wife live on the West coast of FL.  He has a nice big house with standby power and power shudders for the windows.  He read my blog about us not being ready for a big storm and I was chatting with him and telling him that we were not ready here for a big hurricane.  He said if have a storm and need a place to go he would put us up at his place.
I told him that Russell and I might take him up on his offer if we get hit by a big hurricane and we take damage to the condo here so that we had to move out. 
So sounds like Russ and I have a place we can go if it gets real bad for us.
Ken will be in VA for two months soon.  His work is putting him up in a large motel and paying for everything.  He would have room were he could take one of us with out a problem and maybe even two of us if it got bad.  So looks like we got a back up plan.

I just had a power surge here or something.  My computer locked up and I had to re-boot.  I hate to admit it but I do not have a UPS unit.  In FL USP units for your stuff is something you must have.. If you live in FL run right over to CompUSA and pick up UPS units for all your stuff.

Testing BlogJet

I am using my lap top computer to write this post.  I am not sure I can get use to the pad.  I miss the use of a mouse.  I think also that my hand maybe resting from time to time on the pad.  I guess I will get used to using the lap top.
I want to hook up a camera to this and take it out side and see how far I can go and stay connected and send back video.

This Acer has a great display on it.  The screen is very clear and sharp. I am surprised.  This is the first time I have used a portable computer for any length of time.  Unless you count my Radio Shack Model 100 or my Commodore SX-64. 

I need a case for the lap top.  I need a camera for it. 
I think I will pop in a DVD movie and see what it looks like on this computer.

 

"Active" Hurricane Season

Government forecasters say this is going to be a bad tropical storm season.  They expect 13 to 17 tropical storms with 7 to 10 of them becoming hurricanes.
Well Ken, Russ and I are not ready for the hurricane season.  Ken will be in VA for a couple of months.  For about two months it is going to be just Russ and I here. 
They said last year was going to be a bad year for hurricanes.  We got nothing. We will see what happens this year.

June is almost here.  This June I will have been on line 24/7 days a week for 25 years!  Back in June of 1982 I started a bulletin board system.  People connected with it over the phone line at 300 baud.
Jason Scott visited Texas a few years ago to get information for his BBS Documentary.  He interviewed me.  He has 2 1/2 hours of me telling the story of Howard’s Notebook and of what it was like for me in those early days.  I am only in his documentary for a very few seconds.  The entire interview, over two hours, will one day be in an on line archive.  (If we want to get someone to confess to a crime we could just force them to view the entire interview.  They should soon be screaming and confessing just to stop the video.)
So here in a very short time Howard’s Notebook, aka ShowMeBlog, will be 25 years old.  A few of you have been with us for this entire trip.  You have come all the way with us.  God we have seen some changes.  We saw and reported on the start of the Internet.  We had to explain to people what the Internet was and how they could use it.  We saw the first Internet service providers show up.  We saw the world wide web start up and that was about 1995. 
It has been some trip.  I have spent a lot of money.  I hate to think how much money I spent on computers.  Hell I hate to think just how much I spent on modems. 
The money is one thing.  Just think of the time I have spent working on Howard’s Notebook and the sites that have come after it.  My life has been working, sleeping and Howard’s Notebook. If I had put all or part of that time into something else.. God think what I could have done. 
Well it has been an interesting 25 years. 

Well 25 years ago I was about 40 years old.  I was thinking that I was an old man. 

Little did I know.  God I was a young man at that time.  I was a police officer.  I was a security officer at that time.  I was an emergency medical technician at that time.  I was in college at that time. 
Now 25 years later I am a fat, bald, old man with a bad prostate. 
The question now is are you folks going to book mark this site and come back and visit often? In 25 years I will be 91 years old!  Howard’s Notebook (ShowMeBlog) will be 50 years old!
