Large Anti-Bush Protest 04/28/2007

President George W. Bush did not have many friends out side of the Miami Dade College when he made the commencement speech for them.  A very very small number of supporters were on one corner of the street.
They were well protected from the mass of anti-Bush protesters.



The number of anti-Bush protesters was large and loud.  Plus many
drivers as they passed the protesters honked their horns.



My guess is that Bush supporters were at the school. My guess is
they were let in side the protected area and allowed up close and
personal so Bush could see and hear them.
The anti-Bush people were not going to be allowed even to protest
and were not going to be allowed on the public side walk.  They had
to get a court order to the city and police to allow them to express
their rights.

Even inside the secure area of Miami Dade College Bush may not
have had friends.

This is a comment from the parent of a Miami-Dade College graduate:

 

“President Bush's visit caused chaos. I am a parent of a Miami-Dade College graduate and I am extremely angry. Miami Dade College issued too many graduation tickets and therefore, even after arriving 1 hour early, parents such as myself could not see my child graduate. The doors of the auditorium were closed 35 minutes before it was stated they would be closed because "seats were full." We were told we could go see him in a large screen in the cafeteria, but that destroyed my dream of seeing my child walk the stage.

MDCC should not have issued tickets if they didn't have the capacity to fill them. That is lousy administration that we now understand happens every year. It is very unfair to destroy a mother's dream of seeing her child walk the stage. President Bush's visit did not help this cause. This was "not" his graduation -- it was my Son's -- he should have stayed the heck away -- shame on him!!! The look on my Son's face when he realized they turned as back at the door will forever stay in mind.

I am angry and there were many, many, many other parents there that were fuming as well. It is totally unfair and Mr. Bush and MDCC have destroyed this mother's dream.”  Barbi Rodriguez

"...Sixteen groups have contacted the Miami-Dade Police Department, indicating that they would protest, police spokeswoman Mary Walters said. She didn't have the names of the groups. They will be allowed to set up along 104th Street on Miami Dade College property, officials said..."

  I plan to attend the event and will try and post some photos from the event here to ShowMeBlog.  I will take photos and videos and when I get home put them here if they are any good.
  I wanted to have a real digital cam corder to record video but I am going to have to wait until next month.  So I will be using my Exilim EX-Z70 to take the photos and do the videos.

CNet review of the Casio Exilim EX-Z75

I have the Casio Exilim EX-Z70 digital camera.  I would not have picked it out as a camera but Russell got it for himself and I got it from him.  Now that I have the EX-Z70 I like it.  You have seen many photos taken with it right here and movies.

So I was interested when I saw a review of the new Casio Exilim EX-Z75. 
It seems they were not real happy with both of the camers when they reviewed them. 
I was happy with my camera until I read the two reviews. 

When they reviewed my EX-Z70 they recommended the Canon PowerShot SD600.  It does sound good.  I see one area for sure that my EX-Z70 is better.  I can record movies and am only limited by the amount of space on my SD card.  The Canon has a movie limit of 1 and 3 minutes.  Hell I can not say my name in 3 minutes.

I was thinking about getting a digital cam corder this week.  I better put it off for a month or two.  I am going to need all my money this month.  Bummer… I was looking forward to making some moves.  Maybe next month.  

It is 0230 and I am still up.  I better get to bed.  I have to wake Ken at 0430 and Russell at 0600.

Verizon FiOS TV

  I was trying to find out if they offer Verizon FiOS Internet service here.  They could no find this address which makes me fear we don’t have the service here yet.  
   They offer free install and I could get faster Internet service for less money.  I was thinking I could cancel cable modem service and TV and I would get up with more than $60.00 extra in my pocket each month.

   Then I found out that Veizon will be offering FiOS TV.  I checked the channel line up and it is much better than what I get with Atlantic Broadband and it cost less.
    I do not think I would take the FiOS TV service to start with and I don’t think they offer it every where right now.  In six months I will have a school loan paid off and have an extra $160.00 a month and maybe I would take it at that time.

   But I checked for Verizon Internet and TV and they can’t find this address.  
   When the time comes for us to move..I will be checking to make sure that the area we move too offers Verizon FiOS.

   Russell has problems with his T-Mobile phone bill.  His bill should be $50.00 and they billed him for $170.00 and they can’t do anything it now.  He has to call them tomorrow.
    I hope I do not have problems with T-Mobile billing.  I had problems with SprintPCS over the years. 
  
    Jimmy called me tonight and he sounded OK.  I worry about him.  He said everything was OK.  He is a smart good person but he can not deal with stress.  He also will let people push him around..he is too easy going.  He needs more Ken and LaDawna in him.
    
    Hilary’s web site is down so now I am worrying about her.  I am not sure if she failed to pay the bill for the hosting company or if they kicked her off for some reason.

     I had to drive to Homestead in rush hour traffic today so Ken could drop off his Jeep and get a hitch put on it.  Tomorrow I will have to drive back in rush hour traffic.  I think we will just miss the Bush security net area.  I am not sure they would shut down that highway during rush hour traffic even for Bush.
     LaDawna who has lived in CA and now lives in Washington DC says that the traffic here in Miami is worst that both of those areas.
