If I were Bush I could not stand the shame of Katrina. How anyone could face anyone after the mess that he made of Katrina. An American city removed from the face of the earth and Bush was on vacation and did not seem to care. Now a year later he is saying that he has learned the lessons of Katrina.
I hope the American people have learned the lessons of Katrina. What are those lessons? The first lesson never put a dumb man into the White House. Everyone knew that Bush was dumb. I am talking about his first term. Even his supporters were saying that he was not very smart but that he would have good people around him. Now before the second term some of his supporters were saying that he was smart. That just shows that his supporters were dumb or that they lied.
What other lessons can we learn. Well we should see now that Republicans do not care about the American people. They care about corporations and they care about the very rich. They do not care for the common working man.

I heard from Darlene today. She took her car to a friend to get it to pass inspection. It was about an hour and a half drive but it took her five hours. There was slow moving traffic or an accident or something. When she came back home the trip only took her an hour and a half.
The friend and his wife are very good friends. They are born again people and are doing a good deed for her and others. Oh God I said something good about the born again people. I will have to wash my mouth out with soap.
Well the guy fixed her car, got it inspected for her and washed and cleaned the car for her.
I did not get much done today. I did some streaming of video using ChillCam but I heard from two people that it was messing up so I went back to the old way. Right now I am not streaming the video and it will update about one time each 20 seconds.

You know I love politics, news and movies. Remember I was a big fan of "West Wing." Well my daughter and her husband live in Washington DC. They just moved into a place with a guest room and they have asked me to come and visit. I could stay a week or two if I wanted.
I am not interested in seeing Paris or London and places like that but I would love to see Washington DC. I have never been to Washington DC.
I want to see all those great places and I know later when I am home and watching the news and movies I will say I have been there or I was right in that area. No one else would care but I think it would be pretty neat. So I do plan to go and take them up on their offer.
I want to wait until I have some pocket money.
They are both vegans so I will have to eat out often. (Smile) Soon as I can save up some money I am going to be visiting Washington DC. I will take lots of photos and I will post to the blog from Washington DC.

"...The official said bin Laden likely has access to news by listening to
BBC radio and possibly via an Internet connection using an HF modem, an
inexpensive device that connects users to the Web using radio waves..."
Had a reader comment about the above statement from a CNN story. I would like to add my two cents on the subject.
I am sure he access to news. There are tons of radios that can pick up shortwave broadcasts. He can listen to news from all over the world. So no question about he he gets all the news. I suspect he has lots of time on his hands and not much else to do with his time. But I don't think the reader objected to that statement.
Does bin Laden have an Internet connection? My guess is that he does not have a connection. But I do not know what is normal for the part of Pakistan that he is hiding in...If were he is hold up lots of people have satellite dishes then he may have a dish. But he knows he is being hunted with a passion and he is not going do anything that make his hide out look anything but normal. There maybe supporters in the area that have an Internet connection and he might visit from time to time and get on the Internet.
Can people have an Internet connection with out cable and DSL? Yes they can get Internet service over a dial up phone line.
Can people have an Internet connection any other way? Yes via a satellite dish. I did that in Hillsboro Texas remember?
Now it maybe that the reader took objection to "HF" which stands for High Frequency. That would be shortwave. It maybe the the person that wrote the article did in fact mean HF or he may not know the difference between HF, VHF, UHF etc. I have sent an email message using my ham radio from this apartment. The power was less than 5 watts. I did not attempt to get an email message back but I could have got an email back if someone had sent me one.
I was not using HF but VHF. So if the object is "HF" I would say the author is just not an expert in communications.

Ken is now signed up for his new college. He got his student ID and parking decal and paper work today. He also got two books. The cost of two book was $300.00 and he has other books he needs to get for school.

Ken has his two degrees and is now working on number three.
I think the price of college is much too high. There is no reason for the price to be as high as it is at this time. If the people that run colleges and teach in them were as smart as they think they are they could hold down the cost of education.
There is no reason for books to cost what they cost. If they can not get the price of books down then we need to do away with the use of books, written on paper, in college. If you ask me there is something rotten in higher education.

My son in Milpitas CA has a wife that has her family in China. I know she calls her family on the telephone. I told Jimmy about the AOL phone service. I am not sure he listens to his old man. But I am using the AOL phone service. It works via the AOL IM program. I can call most places in the world for a flat rate, each month, of only 10 dollars.
Now most nations I can only call land line phones for free (not cell phones for free). But China is one nation that I can call land line or cell phone free. It is a pretty good deal.
I hope that they are not spending a lot of money on phone calls to China.
On Howard's Notebook I have a FL weather map and I have the weather in a number of US cities (where I have family) and I notice in the city that Jimmy is in that it is 66F when most other places are 80F plus.
I would like to have a full head of hair but if I can't have hair on my head I don't want any and I try and keep it shaved off. I hate having hair on my body. One reason is that all the time I feel a hair move and I think there is a bug on me or something.
Darlene, my ex-wife, calls me each day. She says that she made a big mistake when she had me move out of that house in Hillsboro TX. She says that she wishes she had not done that and that we still lived there.
That was a good deal for all of us until she whent mental again. I was paying $500.00 a month but she was paying everything else and buying all the food and anything else that was needed for for the house and living. I had a nice living area of my own with my own kitchen and bathroom. But things worked out better for Ken and Russell when I moved out. I can help Ken get his live and get his education and Russell moved here and got his GED and a job. If he had stayed in in Texas he would have not got his GED and would not have got a job. He would be playing computer games 24/7.
