Carry A. Nation

I was just watching C/Span Book TV.  That is an excellent service.  A person could get a hell of a good education just watching Book TV.  They had on an author that wrote about book about Carry A. Nation.  Now I am not saying that was all that educational but they do have some great authors and great books on the channel. 

Ken got a used bike today.  I am tempted to steal it and take a ride. Just a few years ago I was a bike patrol officer at a hospital.  I was on the bike 8 hours a day.  (I had a nick name "shade tree" because I would stop under a shade tree and park and watch and patrol some and park again under a tree.)
I do not think I could do it today.  I don't mean 8 hours I mean ride one period.  I get so tired.

I watched "The Libertine" today on DVD.  I did not care for the movie.  I did get to see a few tits.   But not my sort of movie.  "The story of John Wilmot (Depp), a.k.a. the Earl of Rochester, a 17th century poet who famously drank and debauched his way to an early grave, only to earn posthumous critical acclaim for his life's work..."
I am a big Johnny Depp fan.  I have not seen the new Pirates of the Caribbean" movie yet.  I also have not seen Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.  Well as I look over the list of his movies I see that I have not seen many of them.  I have never even watched "Sleepy Hollow" to the end.  I think "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" (1993) and "Benny & Joon" made me a big fan.

For the love of God don't tell anyone but I watched part of "Saint Ralph" today again. 

I am going to have to cancel the doctor's appointment on Tuesday.  I will not have time to get the lap work done and make sure he gets the results.  Plus I am so poor I don't think I would have the office fee that I would need to pay.

Happy Birthday IBM PC

Today (August 12) is the 25th birthday of the IBM PC.  I remember when the IBM PC computer came out.  I had a Tandy 2000 computer at the time which was better than the IBM PC.

The IBM PC came out August 12 of 1981.  My first computer was the Radio Shack Model I which I got in 1978.  I got a Commodore VIC-20 in about  1981.   I got my first Commodore 64 sometime around 1982.  Later I owned a Commodore SX64.  I owned a number of C-64 computers.
I ran Howard's Notebook on a number of C-64 computers.  I even ran the BBS on a VIC-20 for a day just to see if I could do it.  The BBS ran on the TRS-80 Model 1 and on the Tandy 2000.
The first "IBM PC" type computer that I got was a Tandy 1000A. 
Those were the good old days.
My first modem was 300 baud.  When Howard's Notebook (BBS) started users connected at 300 baud.  Yes.. oh yes..those were the good old days.

Delicatessen

I should go to the lab tomorrow and have the lab test done.  I do not feel like not eating or drinking for 12 hours however.  I think I am going to call and put off the appointment with the doctor for about a week.  That will give me time to get to the lab. 

I watched "Delicatesssen" on DVD today.  "Post-apocalyptic surrealist black comedy about the landlord of an apartment building who creates cannibalistic meals for his odd tenants..."
It was interesting.  It is not my type of film however I do like; Blade Runner, Clockwork Orange and Brazil.

I did enjoy very much the commentary by the director on the DVD. 

How about an IQ test for Lawyers

They had on CNN a story about a lawyer that showed up at court and he had been drinking.  He had so much to drink that the judge had him take an alcohol test. 
It would be great if a lawyer had to take an IQ test before he could be a member of the bar.  Then, of course, a lot of the judges that Bush wants to appoint to the bench would have a problem with that.

In the United States a lot of places that rank and file people work...they have a policy...if the worker has an accident of any sort you have to take a drug screen test right then on the spot.  They will have a person respond and test you or they may send you to a location to have the drug test done.
How about some new rules.  How about all members of congress have to pass an alcohol test before they can enter onto the floor of congress.  Remember they don't need to draw blood you just breath into a device.  It would take just a few seconds.  Then let the print out be a part of public record.

Also how about those corporations that have a rule that if a worker is hurt on the dock or hauling trash or doing some rank and file job he has to do a drug screen...  How about they have a rule that anytime an employee has to take a drug screen the CEO of the company has to take one at the same time?

Fly Nude

I will not be watching TV today.  Well not the news on TV.  The cable news people will be "reporting" on the UK matter over and over again. They will not have much information and they will keep reporting on it.  They will talk to their so called paid "experts" and they will talk about the same information over and over again. 
(Remember if people would following my idea from years ago.. we would not have to worry about any of this stuff.  My idea? Everyone will fly nude.  You carry nothing on with you.  Your 100% nude.  No need for any delays.  No need for a strip search or to check your carry on suitcases.  Just show your ID and that is it.) 
I do hate days like this ..when the "news" people have to try and "cover" a "news" story and they just repeat it over and over again.. The run down a list of "experts" that they can interview.

The "threat level" still sucks.  Bush people messed it up from the start and also it has been very political in this nation.  The Bush people have used it for political reasons. 
I am not sure there should be a "threat level" for the public.  Yes police/security people could have a "threat level" that they use so they know what they have to do and how much effort to put into one area.  Of course security should always be at the highest level of security. 
It it has to do with say commercial flights they should always be at red level and never at yellow or green. 

Junior Pilot

I just watched "Junior Pilot" (Vongo).  It is 100% a kids movie.  I am not sure why I watched it.  I guess out of habit I was waiting for a view of a tit or a nude shower bit or something.  No such thing in this movie.
I will never be watching that movie again.

I hate to admit this but in the last three days I have watched "Saint Ralph" three times.  Please don't tell anyone.

Monk and the Red Headed Stranger

Russell is a fan of Monk and I been getting in DVDs of the show for him.  I been watching them.  We started with the first show.  We are up to Season One (Disk 4) of the DVDs.
It came today.  I would not say I was a fan of Monk until this DVD.  I have watched the first two shows on the DVD and they were both great. 
The first story was Mr. Monk and the Earthquake (T-1109) and the second was
Mr Monk Meets the Red-Headed Stranger.  "Country superstar Willie Nelson a cold-blooded murderer? The police think so - but Monk has other ideas."
I am going to watch the last show on the DVD soon and mail it back to Blockbuster. 

I been going to the bathroom often for the last two days.  My whole body has been hurting.  I been tired, very tired, but that is not new.  I think the Doxazosin, that I take, must be the reason I am so tired.  I was not tired like this until I started taking it.  How tired am I?
When I go to the mail box down stairs to get the mail by the time I get back upstairs I need to lay down.  That is tired. 
I been feeling rotten for the last two days.  I think it is what I been eating and how I been eating.  I need to get some lab work done before Tuesday.  But I have not not eat for 12 hours before the lab work and right now I don't feel like not eating and drinking for 12 hours.
When I see the doctor on Tuesday I am going to tell him how tired I am and see if maybe he will cut down on the medication.  I take 4 mg each day.  Maybe I could take 2 mg each day.
Since I stared taking he Avodart and Doxazosin I have zero amount of ejaculate but that is not a real problem for me.  I think the cause is the Avodart.  I am just so happy that I am not going to the bathroom each 15 minutes and in great pain that I don't care about the sexual side effects.  The fatigue is a problem.  I do not see how I could work it is so bad.  So I do want to see if I can get back were I can work and enjoy life. 

Lieberman and McKinney Lose

Joe Lieberman lost the primary race, in Connecticut, to Ned Lamont.  If he were a good Democratic he would have given his support to Lamont and called for everyone to support him.  But Joe Lieberman said he would run as an independent. 
There had been some talk about what posts Lieberman might hold if the Democrats when the white house in 2 years.  If Lieberman runs as an independent he should not get any posts.  (Unless he wins the seat as an independent and we want to give him a post to get him out of congress.

Rep. Cynthia McKinney of Georgia lost.  She is a slug and a poor excuse for a human being.  Thank God she lost.  She did get 41 percent of the vote.  So there are a lot of dumb ass people in the GA 4th district.  With that many dumb voters she maybe black back  one day.
