I have family members that are "Vegan" and no that is not a person from some other world. Well sometimes it feels like it.
See "My Vegan Life" for a well written and interesting post on being a vegan.
"Hello. I'm Marly. I'm a vegan. For any members of my family who may be reading this post, it's pronounced VEE-ghun. I have had several people (yes, in my family, but others too) who've asked me what the heck that means. Here's the short and simple answer: it means I do my best to eat food that does not include any type of animal products. I also do my best to avoid purchasing things (like purses) that are made of animal products…"

I think the Comedy Channel could come up with a great show on the subject. I see the show being something like "My Name is Earl." Just show a vegan person trying to deal with life and the people around the vegan person trying to deal with them. For one show you could use the line "not that there is anything wrong with that" all the time during the show.
I love meat. I eat way to much and I eat "meat" that no one should eat (like hot dogs). I think eating almost no meat would be a lot more healthy. I think eating zero meat for most people would not be good.
I think to be a true vegan and be healthy you have to very smart and you have to work very hard.
I do not see my vegan family very often so when I do see them it is a shock. I will say something about ordering pizza or something..Then they got to remind me …OH OK.. That will not work. Then you got to think about where you are going to eat and what you are going to eat.
If I am out with out them I just look for a place with a cow or chicken in the window or on top of the place. It take about five minutes to find a place. If you are with vegans it is like a military operation and it is going to take a hour or two to find a place.
Plus when I go into an eating place I just get in line and look for something with extra meat and in combo size. If you are with a vegan friend or family member do not get in line behind them. They are going to ask not only for something with out meat but how it is cooked and other questions. I make it a point to act like I am not with them. Smile
My vegan family have taken me to some very nice vegan places to eat. Places that have been written up as being excellent. Let me change that…They have taken me to vegetarian places and every time I say yes this is nice but the truth is the food is …Well I am not sure you can call it food… Food needs some meat in it or it needs some meat drippings or something tossed on it.
Vegetarian foods that they think taste like real food (meat) never taste any good.
Vegetarians are pretty cool most of the time. They even have a sense of humor about the entire subject. Vegans, for the most part, do not. For most of them it is like a religion. They want to proselytize and convert you to their religion (veganism).
You know that TV show I said would be a good idea might be better on the Food Channel. Make it a comedy but include in each show the person cooking some food and showing what and how they are doing it.
You could have a comedy and sort of a cooking show all in one.
The show could be more like "Little People, Big World."
I am going to try and eat better and I am going to try and eat less meat.
But I am not going be a vegetarian or a vegan.
