I was checking out Kansas City dot Com and I found an article called “The priests involved.”
The Kansas City Star
“Most, but not all, of the priests involved in Tuesday’s tentative settlement faced multiple accusers. Over the years, all the defendants reached by The Kansas City Star denied the accusations…”
It was a shocker to see so many priests (12) listed in one place and to read about the lawsuits and the places they worked. One thing I noticed was the small amount of money in the lawsuits.
The other thing that hit home, with me, was the list of churches and the church positions that they held.
None of the names ring a bell with me. I am sure I ran across a few of them. Many if not all of them are not clergy anymore and left the church a long time ago.
Some of them are dead.
All of them, well not the dead ones, denied the accusations.
It would be sad to be accused and not be guilty. It could happen.
I am a Catholic and I went to Catholic schools all my life. Never did any priest ever touch me or do anything that they should not do.
I wonder how Catholic people feel reading the story. Many Catholic people would have known the priests. An interesting list. A sad list.
