Hurricane Dolly has hit Texas and Mexico. I've got a feeling that FL is going to get hit this year with a hurricane. I hope I am wrong.
I do not want us to have storms this year. I do have a new camera and would love to take some photos. Smile
I do not have a ham radio. I feel lost without one. I got a ham radio catalog today, from Texas Towers, and I cannot afford a radio. I looked at handheld Yaesu radios. They are excellent radios and I could almost afford the Yaesu FT-60R ($189.00). I had to help Russell with some money this month. Russ wants to start college next month.
Tomorrow FuelMyBlog ( ) will award the iPhone 3G to the winner. I could win. I am guessing that my odds will be something like 1 in 50 or less. Those are excellent odds. I could win the iPhone 3G. I know that AT&T charges a lot for the cell and data service but I would sign up for the full package. It would be great to have the iPhone 3G and I could post to Howard’s Notebook as I moved around Miami. It would let me post during and after a hurricane. I hope I win the phone.
FuleMyBlog has started a new contest. The prize will be flights, hotel and entry to Blog World Expo in Las Vegas. The contest will end on August 15th. I have never been to Las Vegas. I love to gamble. I would love to win. I will enter the contest but I am not going to win the contest.
To win the contest you have to post photos on your blog from the PipApp.Com site. It looks like a good service and I will post a few photos. The winner of the contest will be the person that who posts the most photos from PipApp and that will not be me.
I've been checking out the Blog World Expo site. I know I am not going to win the contest. I also know I am not going to be attending the event.
It would be odd to be at the event. I am a person that has been blogging since 1982! I would not be known to any of those people and some of them would be saying that they were on the “A-List” of bloggers and had been blogging since 1995. People would be going “wow” since 1995. Smile
It was sort of like that at One BBSCON in August of 1993. I was at that event for BBS people. No one had heard of blogging. There was no world wide web. There was an Internet but no web pages.
This was an event of bulletin board system people. There must have been about 1000 people attending the event. At the start of the event the host asked everyone that had a BBS to stand. It must have been about 800 people standing. Then he said if you have had a BBS for less than a year sit down. About 200 people got back in their chairs. Then the host said if you had a BBS less than 2 years sit down. Almost half of the people sat down. The host just kept counting back years and soon there were about a dozen of us out of 800 still standing. I was one of them. I was the only one in the front half of the hall. I looked around and everyone was looking at me. In the back of the hall there were about 10 or so still standing. One of them was the inventor of the first bulletin board. So I was not the last man standing. Smile
I left the event early and went to a gold mining town (outside of Colorado Springs, CO) to gamble the slots. That was the first time I did any gambling in my life. That was the first time I had my hands on a slot machine. I fell in love. That was 1993.
I do not think I would be at Blog World Expo very long. I would be at the slots.
I would stay just a little bit and walk around and be thinking none of these people know who I am and what I have done.
