2000 Year Old Meteors to Rain Down on August 31 2007

  They say that rumors are circulating again on the death of Castro.  I guess they been going on for years.  So one day they will be correct.  Remember I live in Miami FL. 
  There is concern here, I guess, that people will take to the streets and cause problems.  It is reported that Miami has plans for when Castro does die.
  I think, myself, that the CUBAN americans here are a pain in the butt.  I hope that Castro does die and most of the CUBAN americans will go back to Cuba.  I know I know it is not going to happen.  Oh Castro is going to die but these people are not going back to Cuba.
  I do not like the effect they have had on our national politics since before JFK became president.  They also have effected all of our elections. 

  I am so tired and so weak that life is not worth living... I am not sure how many of you have felt like this before...My guess is that many of you have been so sick that you did not care if you died or not..Well this is sort of like that..Maybe I should try and go to bed and see if lots of sleep would help...
  The problem is not lack of sleep...it is my heart.. I need to get in and see heart doctor and have tests done.  
  I just checked my weight and I am at 210 pounds.  I need to stop eating.  I can tell a difference in how I feel and look when I put on just a few pounds.  I guess going to bed is not the right thing to do..I should go for a walk.

Child killer sentenced to death

  I have some hearing problems.  I was expecting a package today so I did not turn on the TV or do anything on the computer that had sound.
  I did turn on the TV for a few minutes to check the headlines and I had the sound off.  Then they switched to FL for the sentencing of John Evander Couey.  He was convicted of kidnapping and killing Jessica Lunsford age 9 years.  So I turned on the sound.
  I wish I had not turned on the TV.  The TV people and I were expecting the judge to just announce the sentence.  But the judge had legal matters he had to take care of and so he read his judgement and we heard time and time again about the slow, suffering death of the little Jessica.
  Couey was sentenced to death.  I do not think we should have  capital punishment but if there is anyone that deserves death it is Couey.  I would find it hard to say he should not be put to death.  In fact I don't think I could do it.  If it were up to me at ending capital punishment  I think I would say OK let us put an end to it right after we kill John Evander Couey.

Windows Live Writer

  I use Windows Live Writer and ecto to post to ShowMeBlog.  They are both good.  I am not sure which is the best.  Most of you will like Windows Live Writer best  because it is free.

  SpamArrest as taken care of all my Spam problems.  If you have problems with spam click on the Stop 100% of Spam banner on the right side of the blog here.  I picked jimhoward@spamarrest.com as an email address.  Then I went to my other email accounts and told them to forward all my mail to my SpamArrest email.
   Now I could log in and read my email at SpamArrest.  I do check the spam folder each day or two to make sure I am not missing any email.   But I use OutLook Express to get my email.  So I get all my email for jimhoward@spamarrest, jhoward@hnbbs.net and jhoward@hnbbs.com and it has all been filtered and I get zero spam.  It is heaven. 
  
  The Logitech Quickcam 9000 is working great.  I love it.  I have not made a video with it yet but I can't wait.  I am going to try and make a video or two today.
  A number of you have commented about how share and clear the video is now using the Logitech QuickCam 9000.  It is the best usb webcam.  The only thing better would be a digital camcorder hooked up to your computer.  When I can afford a digital camcorder I will get one and use it for ShowMeCam. 

  Well I am back up to 207 pounds.  The only way I can lose weight is to be out of food. 

  Windows XP Home edition is working so slow here.  I notice that sometimes my CPU usage is at 100% and I am not sure what is the cause. 
  I am using Windows XP Professional x64 Edition and everything is so fast.  No delays and no problems.  I may just start using this x64 version but this is a evaluation version.  I am not sure when it is going to expire.  I can't afford to pay for it right now.

  I have a problem with Linux.  It is something simple but I can't fix it.  When I am surfing the web the pages sort of float.  When I use the mouse.. they pages sort of flow and it takes a bit for me to get them to stop.  It makes surfing a pain in the butt.  I have attempted to change the mouse settings but it does not help.
 
  A couple of you have asked about my health.  I do not have chest pains unless I do something.  That is an improvement.  I was having chest pain all the time even if I was laying down.
  I am tired and weak all the time.  Sometimes I have to hold onto the wall here I am so weak.  I got to get in and see a heart doctor and have some tests done.

Compiz Fusion

 

I found this demo of Windows Vista vs Linux Ubuntu Beryl.

I have Linux SUSE 10.2 on my computer and I am a fan of Linux but I can't get my version of Linux to do all the stuff you see in the demo.

  I have a poll again.  Same as last time I think.  Did I invent blogs?  I can not remember what the vote was last time but I think I was about the only one voting that invented blogs.  Smile.

  Have you got a good idea for a bumper sticker?  The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee needs one.  Read about it at:  Howard's Notebook  There is no cash prize.  I guess the prize is getting more Democrats in the congress.  It would be pretty neat to see the slogan you created cars all across the United States.

  I went to the store last night and I spent $100.00 for food.  So I am going to eat like a king until the food runs out.  I should budget it to last a month.  No I am a weak weak man.  Smile

  I saw the doctor yesterday.  He had no news for me.  Not much he can do until I see a heart doctor.  I am having almost zero chest pain now.  My doctor said he wanted to see me in two months.  I had them make an appointment for three months.

  I have a lot of photos on ImageEvent.  I been paying for years.   It cost $25.00 each year. 



  The yearly fee is due.  It is due in two days.  I am not sure I can afford to spend $25.00 for it this year.  So if there are any photos you want to save you better down load them now.  I also do not have them saved.  Anyone have some program with the ability to download them all fast and easy?  If you do please download them and get them to me and I will post them someplace else.

New Quickcam Pro 9000

  I got the new Quickcam Pro 9000 camera today.  I had to go to BestBuy.  CompUSA did not have any. 



  There you have the photo.  Yes it is very sharp and clear.  We will see how it does later tonight.  But as of right now if your looking for a usb webcam then I recommend the Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000.

Sound Monitor
  Well the use of the second monitor did not work out.  I could not play my game.  Plus when I re-booted the computer I just got a band of color across the 22 inch LCD monitor.  Not good.  So I am back to just using the 22 inch LCD monitor.  Hell I should be happy that I have such a great monitor. 
  Plus I do not have room for a second monitor.

   Quickcam Pro 9000
   I was looking for something on the Internet and I came across information about the new Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000.  I have said here that it looks to me like the QuickCam Fusion was the best of the webcams.  I have not owned an Orbit yet so I am not sure about it.
  But from what I been reading it looks like this new Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 is a real winner.  I am going to get one today.  Later today I should be using one.

  Maxthon2
  OK I have found one thing that I don't like about the Maxthon browser.  When you use their search bar at the top of the browser you get their own link often and not the true link of the site your sent too.  It may not matter to you but I use those links to paste in my blog and other sites.
  As an example I used their search and I put in "Logitech pro 9000" and here is the URL that shows when I go that site:  http://s.maxthon.com/?q=logitech+pro+9000
  When I use Google:  http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/webcam_communications/webcams/devices/3056&cl=us,en
   I still love the Maxthon browser I will just have to no use their search bar.

Second Monitor

Now that Russell has his own computer and I got my 19 inch CRT monitor back ...I just hooked it up to my computer so now I have a 22 inch LCD monitor and a 19 inch CRT monitor.  I did not want to put the heavy 19 inch monitor on this glass desk.  We had a glass desk break. 

I will give this a test and see if it works OK for me.  I could use a little nap.  I better get busy and get the stuff off my  bed and see if I can find a place to put things.

Shuttle on Way Home

  The Shuttle is on the way home.  President Bush is having a press conference up in Canada.  I think he should have waited to hold a press conference until the Shuttle was on the ground.
   President Bush just said in the press conference that he would help Mexico with damage from Hurricane Dean if they needed it.  Not sure about the people in Mexico but I would not put much faith in that statement.  President Bush stoodby and did nothing when an American city was removed from the face of the earth (New Orleans). 
    I got a feeling that we might do better at helping Mexico than helping an American city however.. We could sort of look at it like a military operation going into Mexico.

    I am going to watch TV and hope that the Shuttle makes it down OK.
   
  Update:  I heard the double sonic boom from the Shuttle before it landed.  That is the first time I have heard it here in Miami.  I heard it a number of times when I lived in Orlando FL.  It was very loud in Orlando FL but that may have been because we lived in a mobile home. 
               I remember one landing, when I lived in Orlando, that was about 3 or 4 am.  I heard the sonic booms. It made birds and ducks start making noise and dogs bark.

 

The Shrink Is In

  I am watching "The Shrink Is In" (2001) on the Comedy Channel.  I have never seen the movie or even heard of it before.  It is funny.  It is very funny.
